Best Date Ideas

Trying to come up with some date ideas can be really stressful. This is particularly true if it’s your first date with the person. But things can be just as stressful, or even more so, for a second, third or later date.

The Pressure: Trying to Impress

A lot of the difficulty comes into play because you’re trying to impress the other person. This isn’t just some basic social dinner out with friends. You’re going on a date because you’d like to see if this person is someone whose company you enjoy. There’s this whole romantic subplot going on, and you don’t want to make a bad impression. This helps to explain the stress of planning the date.

Know What They Like

One thing you want to avoid is planning a date in a way that isn’t compatible for the other person. For instance, you might personally be considering cute date ideas because that’s your kind of thing. Maybe you could go watch a fairly light-hearted romantic comedy. You might want to go for a picnic in the park, or a leisurely bike ride, or you could play with dogs in the park.

Now, those ideas might make sense to you, but if the other person doesn’t go for cute stuff then you’re going to have a problem. If she’s more of the serious type who likes to do stuff that’s heavy and weighty, then a cute picnic isn’t going to be the best idea. So clearly some research will be involved.

But if the person seems to be someone interested in fun activities, then you can plan accordingly. You can do research by talking with your mutual friends (if you have any). Or you could maybe take a peek at her social media account, to see what she likes.

High Activity Date Options

If she’s into activities with some adventure and running around, then you can plan a day of laser tag or paintball. Try to come up with fun date ideas. If you can find out the specific fun things she likes to do, such as go for a ride on an ATV, or go surfing, then you can try those. The possible downside though is that she might be looking to try something new. So if you do the stuff that she usually does, then she might be a bit disappointed.

Planning a Romantic Date

If you learn that she’s a bit of a romantic, then focus your attention on coming up with romantic date ideas. You can start with a restaurant that has a romantic atmosphere, one of those places where they have candles on the tables and some live music. Offer to pick her up at her place, and if possible, try to have a ride of some sort reserved for the evening. Get her flowers. Ideally, find out the kinds of flowers that she likes ahead of time. If she likes yellow tulips, get her those, and so on.

Don’t Blow Your Budget

At the same time, however, you’ll need to keep your budget in mind. Don’t spend so much that you’ll get even more stressed out the next day. There are many cheap date ideas out there. There’s no need to spend on a restaurant dinner. If you have good cooking skills, you can whip something up at home, pack it up, and go somewhere nice like a park to eat. That’s your picnic right there. Instead of watching a movie, or doing something you need to pay for, look for the free activities available in your city.

If she’s into museums, go check one out. Many museums have free entry days. Watch out for free concerts, music events and other similar activities in your area. Keep tabs on these so that if you’re going on a date, you already know what your options are.
